ok – i have to admit i am probably not the best underwater photographer – but it really difficult to get a decent foto :-)

yesterday was the most advantures day in turkey ever. we were driving to work in the morning like every day, but suddentliy the street was blocked. there was no sign why or what to do instead. some workers fixed the asphalt i guess – however we were in a hurry and so we followed some trucks. than we drove over a field. a normal field. with a normal car. you can not imagine how close we were to get stuck in one of the sand-wholes. all over the field were cars – which were brocken or had any other problem. the air was foggy from the sand because the ground was really dry. i think it did not rain for more than 4 weeks here. i felt like on a safari tour :-)

in the evening we made the same again – this time we even crossed a train-line and the funny thing is – that not like in austria – people stop when a train crosses – it is the opposit – the train waits until everybody has passed. it was crazy – we got stock on the train-rails and i was really really scared- because the train made some noise with its horn. luckely some guys helped us out and pushed the car over the rails. than we went to the hairdresser – and after one hour the light went out and the power was gone. we were sitting 3 hours at the hairdressers (with wet hair). the offered us drinks and food. it was nice (and cheap…:-)

this is it. my last week. i am getting lazy with my blog – but it is kind of busy at the moment – so i can not find the energy nor the time to write a proper article. however i had a quite nice weekend.
on friday i was at the company ’til 23:00 – but is was worth it – got to know some very interesting people and how “the business” works. but the late finish made my boatrip the next day more exhausting as expected. i slept the whole way to the bay on the deck of the boat. i liked it.
on saturdaynight i was out – really heavy. due to that – sunday was pool-day again. with loads of water. to drink.

i am not working this friday and hopefully i get a late-check-out time for saturday – so that i can have 2 more (holy)days. in austria the weather is quite warm as well – so i am looking foward to a seemless temperature crossing :-)
hope to see you all again very soon.

and the pic shows the hotel- poolbar – with the best Rhaki on earth.

getting on … July 19, 2007

yesterday evening after work i was frustrated. i live directly on the sea side – but i have not been in the sea yet. i really work a lot and it is always too late for a swim.

but this time i didn’t care that it was already evening. i didn’t care that the nearest beach hast dirty water. i didn’t care that i was the only woman on the beach or that i had no beach towel. i just did it.

right before the sunset i went swimming. it was cold. it was dirty. but it was great.

the hotel staff will hate me for the sandy hotel towels, the sandy floor, the sandy shower….

but not just my adventure life is getting on – also my business life has some new, how should i say, perspectives. i went to work at 6:00 in the morning today and i took part at same very interesting things. i met some new people and one of them has a really good job for me. it is very difficult, because it means i have to work january and february – than i have to write my bachelor theses, do my final exam – and than right back to turkey. but i have the feeling it could be my chance.

slowly i also get to miss my family and friends. i mean not very heavy or something – but still it is a new experience for me – as i was never, not even slightly, homesick before. maybe it is because i can not keep contact that well as i normally do when i am abroad. i can not write sms and internet aint working in my new hotel room.

(+90 256 618 19 00 008 hotel-room number, just in case)

on the other hand I like this country more and more every day and i am quite sure to spend a few years here. i just have to decide for study or work.

in some days i am going to Bangkok – but I hardly think about it. i will realise it as soon as i am in the plane. or later.

i have a new hobby – it is shopping. i never realised how convenient it is to buy things at night. i mean it is already a pleasure to go to H&M for some new cloth during the day, although it makes me sometimes sick to wait in line for hours and than the light does not even work in the dressing room. however in turkey it is fantastic. you go for a small midnight walk – see a nice dress in the shop window – and guess what? yes – you can simply enter and try it on. no people, no stress, no time pressure. perfect.   maybe this is a good point to write about my VISA card problems. It does not work any more. Some of you may assume – ‘no wonder – if her new hobby is shopping…’ but I can assure you that there is no connection.   today I check out the hairdresser around the corner. i look forward to that – as my hair is in really bad condition from all the sand/sun/chlorine-water. the last time i went to a turkish hair dresser my hair looked horrible afterwards. So chances are high that it looks at least normal this time.

tomorrow my colleague (Emine – the girl on the foto) will come with me to kusadasi and we will go out. i look forward to that. she is a really nice person and she helps me a lot to find some information about study programs in Izmir. so you can look foward to thursday – as i am sure it is going to be an interesting evening….

Pool Session 24×2 July 16, 2007

Hello Everybody!

as there are no comments yet on my posts – i guess i should write about my adventures. or about my dirty little secrets? do i have your attention now?? yes – i mean you!!

ok – there are`t any secrets nor adventures i could tell you. i spent the whole weekend at the pool or in bed. altough the way from my bed(s) to the hotelpool is not very long it seems endless for me. as you can imagine – after two days non-stop bathing i have quite a sunburn – i mean not third-degree or something – but it is still hurting. however, i enjoyed it very much. slowly i get to know all the hotel-staff members. there is the lifeguard, who is more in the pool than at the pool though. the breakfast boy is also a very nice one -as i am the only person in kusadasi – who has breakfast before 9:00 – he enjoyes my company. speaking about breakfast – it is delicous, rich, even with mouse o chocolate (oh my god – i had 5 years of french and i cannot even write a simple word anymore!!) .

as i spent my whole saturday sleeping and cilling out at the poolside of life – if was in party condition. i mean i really really wanted to get drunk. luckely my colleague from work invited me to a birthday party of her 27 year old nice. it started at 23:00 – with a DJ and a great dinner. at about 2:30 in the morning we went down-town. in a very popular bar (or club) with live music. the – obviously gay – singer, was not bad and i slowly start to enjoy turkish music. +

I went home early in the morning – it was still dark – and i jumped into the pool. well – now i know it is forbidden. even striktly forbidden….. but it was fun. So far the new hotel was a good decision – altough i miss internet acess a lot – but i enjoy the new german television channels in my room .

yesterday evening i went jogging – but after half an hour it got so crowded – i could not run anymore and i made a walk though city center – and guess what? i got seriously lost.  i lost my orientation totaly. completely. this town is so big and looks the same on every fu***** corner. a very nice, old, turkish businessman helped me out and after more than 2 hours i was back in my hotel.

you have to imagine that it is really hard to see all the people having their holiday here. you can hear them shouting and laughing around during the night. in the morning you can see some crazy people fighting about deckchairs. they do whatever they want the whole day. going out and drinking. i have to get up for work and when i come back it is too late for any sun-bathing or even swimming.

five days left for my next holiday session.

from the desert to the seaside July 13, 2007

yesterday was a great day. even my overtime work pays off in a way i had not expected. at 15:00 the manager of the graphical departement made a interesting proposal to me. she asked me why i stay in Tire. and i said: “because i dont know any other cheap hotel…..” well, as it turns out there are many inexpensive hotels in turkey. now i changed my hotel and i live directly on the beach. it was kind of a hurry though. i took a TAKSI from the factory to my old hotel – checked out – back to work – and than 1 h drive to my new hotel. the rest of my stay i have a pool. i even have 2 beds – wich are not needed. whatever…..

Yesterday i stayed at the factory until 23:30 – which is not normal for me. but it seems it is normal for the rest. however the time past by very fast – as i had my instruction training in QM (quality management). the next time you see a cigarette package please check the coulours, the writing, the health warning, the cutting,….. and so on. i really start to enjoy my work – which is still more a training than a real job. and than i went home. well – not exacactly home. but the hotel is nice though. i couldn’t sleep and so i took a walk. i discovered a football field and i wached 2 games until 2:00 in the morning.

today is a special day. i will learn how to calculate the ink for 1 pallete of finished goods. that means the graphical department is expecting me… just one day left and than is again weekend….

First beach trip in Turkey July 11, 2007

under water

I am in Turkey since the 30th. of june. the weather is amazingly stable. pure sunhine the whole day. the work at MMGI is interesting and my colluage Emine invited me at her her home in Izmir over the weekend. this sleepover was just great. we went to Cesme, a very pupular summer-holiday place in Turkey. loud widley known musik. clear and grenn/blue water. beachclubs everywhere. luckely i had not even to pay the entrance fee. it is not so cheap as expected here – but still affordable … i had problems with my camera – as the batterie was nealry empty at the beginning of friday. but i saved enough for my first underwater fotos. i just love this camera……
